PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cartilage regeneration-promoting agent for promoting cartilage regeneration and further suppressing inflammation.SOLUTION: A pharmaceutical composition containing harmine or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof as an active ingredient is provided. By the cartilage regeneration-promoting agent containing harmine or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof as the active ingredient, inflammation is suppressed, chondrocytes are efficiently induced to be differentiated to mature chondrocytes and the cartilage is protected and regenerated. The cartilage regeneration-promoting agent can be preventively and therapeutically applied to diseases or disorders developed by cartilage reduction, concretely, to inflammation and the like accompanied by the cartilage reduction in degenerative joint diseases of knee joints, hip joints and the like, and rheumatoid arthritis.
