Method of restraining an animal (40), comprising providing an open ended tubular body (10), with an internal through-passage (13) having a size allowing the animal to pass through and an elastic tubular net (20) having an open end (21) and a closed end (22). The tubular net has a width, in a pressed and untensioned condition, smaller than the external size of the tubular body. The tubular net (20) is applied over the tubular body (10), such that the net closes one end of the tubular body with a mesh, and the animal (40) is introduced in the tubular body (10) from an end (12) opposite the end (11) closed by the net and such that it faces the end closed by the net. The animal is made to proceed through the tubular body (10), and the tubular net (20) is made to slide off relative to the tubular body as the animal proceeds past the end (11) of the tubular body closed by the net (20), such that the animal gets trapped in the tubular net (20).
