A controlled evacuation ostomy appliance including: a) a pouch (10) including a first wall (12) and a second wall (14), the first wall including a first aperture (16) for receiving a stoma b) a stoma seal (22) located at the first aperture and coupled to the second wall and c) a stoma seal support (34, 36, 38) for supporting the stoma seal at the first aperture. The stoma seal support includes a member positioned inside the first aperture. Either: (i) the stoma seal support is coupled to the stoma seal to support the stoma seal directly or (ii) the stoma seal support is coupled to the second wall, in order to support the stoma seal indirectly.
