The present specification is HedyotisIt relates to a composition comprising diffusa Willdenow) as an active ingredient. Such compositions of the present disclosure have the effect of protecting neurons from oxidative stress and inhibiting neuronal death. It is also possible to increase the expression of antioxidant enzymes that inhibit cell death resulting from increased oxidative stress in cells. Accordingly, the composition of the present disclosure may exhibit an effect of preventing, ameliorating or treating a secondary disease that may occur due to the death of nerve cells from oxidative stress, and thus may be used as a pharmaceutical or food composition.본 명세서는 백화사설초(Hedyotisdiffusa Willdenow)을 유효성분으로서 포함하는 조성물에 관한 것이다. 이러한 본 명세서의 조성물은 산화적 스트레스로부터 신경세포를 보호하고, 신경세포의 사멸을 억제하는 효과를 나타낸다. 또한, 세포 내에서 산화적 스트레스의 증가로 인해 발생하는 세포 사멸을 억제하는 항산화 효소의 발현을 증가시킬 수 있다. 따라서, 본 명세서의 조성물은 산화적 스트레스로부터 신경세포의 사멸로 인하여 발생될 수 있는 2차적 질병을 예방, 개선 또는 치료하는 효과를 나타낼 수 있어 약학 또는 식품 조성물로서 사용될 수 있다.
