The present invention relates to a novel wild-type Lactococcus lactis subsp. cremoris bacteria strain with increased vitamin K2 production and mutants and variants thereof and methods for preparation of a fermented food or feed product enriched in vitamin K2 and a vitamin K enriched edible product for amelioration and/or prevention of vitamin K deficiency.
