The present application provides a novel tissue regeneration promoter and a method of promoting tissue regeneration. The present application is directed to a composition for promoting tissue regeneration, promoting cell differentiation and/or promoting cell proliferation, the composition comprising an ingredient selected from the group consisting of: activated astrocytes, decomposition products of activated astrocytes, matrix metalloproteinase 14 (MMP14), collagen treated with MMP14, and secretions of activated astrocytes.
