The present invention relates to a composition for controlling functions of mitochondria containing Echinochrome A as an active component. The composition of the present invention accelerates expression of genes adjusting biosynthesis of mitochondria to increase functions of mitochondria such as increase in the number of mitochondria and ATP synthesis. And the composition containing Echinochrome A as an active component prevents or treats heart diseases like heart damage by arrhythmia, ventricular fibrillation, heart failure, and ischemia-reperfusion.본 발명은 에키노크롬 A를 유효성분으로 함유하는 미토콘드리아 기능 조절용 조성물로, 본 발명의 조성물은 미토콘드리아 생합성을 조절하는 유전자들의 발현을 촉진시켜 미토콘드리아 개체 수 증가 및 ATP 합성과 같은 미토콘드리아 기능을 상승시킬 수 있다. 또한 본 발명의 에키노크롬 A를 유효성분으로 함유하는 조성물은 부정맥, 심실세동, 심부전 및 허혈성 재관류에 의한 심장 손상과 같은 심장질환을 예방 또는 치료할 수 있다.
