An ankle prosthesis comprises a bearing (216), a talar component (212), and a distal tibial component (214) having a (i) proximal bone-engaging surface (226), (ii) a distal mounting surface (220), and (iii) an extension (224) extending from the proximal bone-engaging surface to a proximal end (230) along an axis intersecting the proximal surface. The proximal exterior surface extends proximally extension from the proximal end for at least part of the axial length of the extension. The distal tibial component comprises a composite including a solid polymer portion (220) and a porous portion (222). The solid polymer portion defines the proximal end of the extension and the mounting surface of the distal tibial component and bears against the mounting surface of the bearing. The porous portion of the tibial component defines the proximal bone-engaging surface of the tibial component and the proximal exterior surface of the extension.
