PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gene involved in boron transport in a Arabidopsis thaliana borl-1 mutant, and to provide a method for utilizing the gene. SOLUTION: This gene has either one of the base sequences described below: (A) the base sequence encoding a specific amino acid sequence derived from Arabidopsis thaliana; (B) the base sequence encoding an amino acid sequence where one to several amino acids are deleted, added or substituted in the above amino acid sequence and which has boron transport activity, (C) the base sequence encoding an amino acid sequence having at least 60% homology with the above amino acid sequence in (A) and also having boron transport activity, (D) a specific base sequence derived from Arabidopsis thaliana, (E) the base sequence where one to several bases are deleted, added or substituted in the above base sequence in (D) and which encodes a protein having boron transport activity, and (F) the base sequence hybridizable with the above base sequence in (D) under stringent conditions and encoding a protein having boron transport activity.
