The present invention addresses the problem of providing a different mode of a 4-(3-cyanoindol-1-yl)-2-hydroxybenzoic acid which has xanthine oxidase inhibitory activity and is useful as a preventive and therapeutic agent for diseases caused by abnormalities in the serum uric acid level. The present invention provides: a 4-(3-cyanoindol-1-yl)-2-hydroxybenzoic acid sodium salt which has excellent solubility and other physical properties, is useful as a drug substance, and is suitable for industrial production of a medicine； and a method for producing the same.本發明之課題係提供一種具有黃嘌呤氧化酶(xanthine oxidase)抑制活性，作為由血清尿酸值異常引起之疾病之預防或治療藥有用的4-(3-氰基吲哚-1-基)-2-羥基苯甲酸之不同之形態。本發明提供一種具有優異之溶解性及其他物性、作為醫藥品原體較有用、並且適於醫藥品之工業生產的4-(3-氰基吲哚-1-基)-2-羥基苯甲酸．鈉鹽及其製造方法。
