An apparatus and method for applying therapeutic spinal treatment to a patient has an anchor that connects to a first portion of the patients body above the cervical spine area. The anchor substantially fixes the location of that portion in the apparatus and a movable interface is provided in the apparatus with which the patient is adapted to interact with an operative part of his body. Movement of the movable interface together with the operative part of the patients body imposes upon at least a second portion of the patients body that is below the first portion movement at the spine.
