Described are topical, transdermal and transmucosal pharmaceutical compositions comprising bremelanotide that include bremelanotide or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof and a permeation enhancer, in any form suitable for topical, transdermal or transmucosal delivery, including transmucosal delivery through the gastrointestinal tract after oral administration. Also provided are methods of making and using the pharmaceutical compositions.
