The present invention relates to a novel CvFatB1 isolated from Cuphea viscosissima and an effect of increasing the content of a palmitic acid in a transgenic plant by using the same. The content of the palmitic acid in a seed of the transgenic plant transformed with the novel CvFatB1 gene increases, and such a trait is further increased in a T2 generation. Thus, the seed of the transformant can be used in production of a palmitic acid.본 발명은 Cupheaviscosissima로 부터 분리한신규한 CvFatB1 및 이를 형질전환한 식물체의 팔미트산 함량 증가 효과에 관한 것으로, 상기 신규한 CvFatB1 유전자로 형질전환된 형질전환 식물체의 종자에서 팔미트산 함량이 향상되었으며 이와 같은 형질이 T2 세대에서 더욱 증강되었으므로 상기 형질전환체의 종자를 팔미트산의 생산에 이용할 수 있다.
