The invention refers to a mixing and/or reconstitution system which reduces the possibility of user error and provides a well mixed and/or reconstituted drug in a short time comprising -a device (200), for example a cartridge, a syringe or an autoinjector, containing a first material within a first chamber (205), a housing (201) and a plunger (207), wherein the plunger (207) comprises a second chamber (209) containing a second material, wherein one of the first and the second material is a fluid, and a movable element (210) with an electric, magnetic or paramagnetic characteristic, wherein the second chamber (209) is initially closed, -a base unit (250) comprising an recess (265) for accommodation of the device (200), a control unit (270), and an electromagnetic unit (260) which is adapted to produce an electromagnetic field penetrating the recess (265), wherein the control unit (270) electrically operates the electromagnetic unit (260), wherein the base unit (250) is adapted such that after accommodation of the device (200) within the recess (265) and after user activation of the base unit (250) the control unit (270) operates the electromagnetic unit (260) such that the element (210) contained in the second chamber (209) moves in a direction of the device (200) determined by the electromagnetic field and thereby opens a path providing a fluid communication between the first chamber (205) and the second chamber (209).
