PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic endoscope apparatus restraining image quality deterioration caused by a transmission error while reducing the outer diameter of a distal end.SOLUTION: An imaging unit 11 provided at the distal end 10 images a subject and generates image signals. An A/D conversion unit 12 provided at the distal end 10 quantitizes the image signals and generates image data. An ECC encoding unit 13 provided at the distal end 10 encodes the image data using error correction codes and generates encoding data. An ECC decoding unit 21 provided at a body unit 20 corrects the transmission errors of the image data by decoding the encoding data. An image processing unit 22 provided at the body unit 20 corrects the transmission errors left in the image data after the correction made by the ECC decoding unit 21.
