The present invention relates to a method for reducing motion artifacts in dual energy computed tomography. In the method image recording is performed with a pitch, which allows the reconstruction of a number of slice images at each slice position. A number of first slice images are preferably first reconstructed at each slice position from the combined measurement data of the two x-ray image recording systems (1-4). These first slice images for each slice position are used to calculate motion vectors, which are a measure of the movement from slice image to slice image. These motion vectors are interpolated to the time frame of the projections. Projections are then selected, which were recorded in phases of minor movement. The dual energy image reconstruction finally only takes place on the basis of the selected projections. Dual energy image recordings with reduced motion artifacts are thus obtained.
