Disclosed is a feed composition comprising conventional feed ingredients characterized in that said feed composition comprises peptidoglycan and nucleotides, wherein said peptidoglycan is in the range of 0.001-0.01%. Also disclosed is the use of the composition comprising conventional feed ingredients, nucleotides, and peptidoglycan in the manufacture of a pharmaceutical composition and/or nutritional composition and/or functional feed for the prophylaxis and/or treatment of infectious diseases in animals, and/or for the reduction of symptoms of a disease, wherein said peptidoglycan is in the range of 0.001-0.01%.
