A nipple protection device in the form of nipple shield 1, 100 which is of shape generally known per se. The Nipple shield 1, 100 is provided with peripheral indication means 2 to enable the periphery of the device 1, 100 to be seen in the dark or in dial light conditions (e.g. glow in the dark), to aid a mother breast feeding a baby at night time. The peripheral indication means 2 may be in the form of a fluorescent material pigment 2 which may be integrated into the periphery of the nipple shield 1 during the molding process. The indication means may be located on the shield 1, 100 in a variety of locations covering up to all of the shield 1, 100. The indication means may also include a touch indicator such as a textured surface. The indicator means may be heat resistant/ resistant to sterilization. The nipple shield 1, 100 may also be coloured. An illuminated container (figure 4) is also claimed.
