PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hook-and-loop fastener female member having an engaging layer which employs a nonwoven fabric, and excellent in engaging force with a hook-and-loop fastener male member and to provide a hook-and-loop fastener and a sanitary article, which have the hook-and-loop fastener female member.SOLUTION: A hook-and-loop fastener female member 100 has an engaging layer capable of being engaged with a hook-and-loop fastener male member and a physical property layer holding the engaging layer, the engaging layer contains a nonwoven fabric made of fibers, and a flexibility index A represented by formula (1) is 0.004 g-2 or more. A compressive load is applied from an axial direction to a ring body obtained in such a manner that a front end part and a rear end part in the longitudinal direction of the long hook-and-loop fastener female member of A=1/(P1×P2)(1)P1:25 mm in width are connected to each other by a stapler to be a ring-shape of 20 mm in wind-up diameter, and when the ring body is deformed, it becomes the maximum compressive load.
