593467 Disclosed herein is the use of (R)-7-chloro-N-(quinuclidin-3-yl)benzo[b]thiophene-2-carboxamide, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, in the preparation of a medicament for improving cognition in a patient suffering from schizophrenia or Alzheimer's disease, said medicament being for administration to said patient at a daily dose of 0.1 mg to 3 mg of the (R)-7-chloro-N-(quinuclidin-3-yl)benzo[b]thiophene-2-carboxamide or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. Additionally wherein the pharmaceutically acceptable salt is the hydrochloride, hydrochloride monohydrate or hydrochloride solvate of (R)-7-chloro-N-(quinuclidin-3-yl)benzo[b]thiophene-2-carboxamide.
