PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope capable of obtaining a stably half locked state over a long period.SOLUTION: A bending operation device 10 includes: a bending lever 11 for causing a bending operation； a first bearing member 15 for pivotally supporting a first shaft body 13 for transmitting the rotation force of the bending lever 11； a pulley 16 fixedly provided on the first shaft body 13 and rotated together with the bending lever 11 to tow the operation wire 18 to release； and a friction member 87 which includes a shaft receiving hole allowing the first bearing member 15 to be inserted therein and a pressing surface opposite to the abutting flat surface of the pulley 16, and causes the pressing surface to abut on the abutting surface to impart a breaking force to the pulley 16 to slidably hold the pulley 16. In the device, a step difference portion for storing grease to be supplied to a gap between the pressing surface and the abutting flat surface is provided on the pressing surface side of the friction member 87.
