A pharmaceutical composition utilized for exterminating animal external parasites is disclosed. The pharmaceutical composition comprises an active ingredient and a monoester, wherein the active ingredient comprises at least one selecting from albendazole, amitraz, bifenthrin, fipronil, deltamethrin, abamectin, eprinomectin, milbemycin, ivermectin or phoxim the monoester is expressed as R-COO-R, in which R can be H or an alkyl group that is preferably selected from a methyl or an ethyl group, and R is selected from an alkyl group containing 5-15 carbon atoms. In addition, a method for preparing the pharmaceutical composition, the pharmaceutical composition using the aforementioned method, and a purpose of using the pharmaceutical composition to exterminate animal external parasites are also disclosed.
