Establishment of the electrical connection is prevented when the housing does not cover at least a portion of the distal end (808, 828, 910) of the main body (802, 822, 852, 902, 956). The electrical connection may be established when the housing covers at least a portion of the distal end (808, 828, 910) of the main body (802, 822, 852, 902, 956) of the drug delivery device (800, 821, 850, 952).
