The present invention relates to an antibody against human programmed cell death 1 (PD-1) or an antigen-binding fragment thereof, a nucleic acid for coding same, a vector comprising the nucleic acid, a recombinant microorganism transformed with the vector, a method for preparing the antibody or the antigen-binding fragment thereof, and a composition for cancer prevention or treatment comprising same. The novel PD-1-binding antibody or the antigen-binding fragment of thereof can bind to PD-1 and inhibit the activity thereof and is therefore useful for developing an immunotherapeutic agent for various diseases associated with PD-1.
