The present invention relates to a composition for inhibiting myostatin activity comprising a matrix gla protein as an active ingredient, and more specifically, the composition for inhibiting myostatin activity comprising a matrix gla protein was confirmed to increase the expression of genes relates to muscle differentiation to promote differentiation of muscle satellite cell and to inhibit the binding of myostatin and ACVRIIB, which promote muscle cell decrease, thereby inhibiting the activity of myostatin, and thus the composition comprising the matrix gla protein as the active ingredient can be effectively used as a myostatin activity regulator and as a therapeutic agent for muscle diseases such as muscle decrease induced by the myostatin.본 발명은 매트릭스 gla 단백질을 유효성분으로 함유하는 미오스타틴 활성 저해용 조성물에 관한 것으로, 보다 상세하게는 매트릭스 gla 단백질을 유효성분으로 함유하는 조성물은 근육분화와 관련된 유전자들의 발현을 증가시켜 근육위성세포의 분화를 촉진하고 근육감소를 유도하는 미오스타틴와 ACVRIIB의 결합을 저해시켜 미오스타틴의 활성을 억제시키는 것으로 확인됨에 따라, 상기 매트릭스 gla 단백질을 유효성분으로 함유하는 조성물은 미오스타틴 활성 조절제 및 미오스타틴에 의해 유도되는 근육감소와 같은 근육질환 치료제로 효과적으로 사용될 수 있다.
