A flexible embolic implant exhibiting a second shape is disclosed. Some of the embolic implants exhibit a gradually increasing flexibility from the distal end of the coil to the proximal end. The embolic implant has a first coil, an optional second coil, and shape wires and stretch resistant fibers disposed in the lumen of the first coil. Optional distal support wires are also disclosed. The embolic implant includes a proximal restraint assembly configured to be releasably retained by a delivery device. Located near each end of some of the implants is an elliptical hole washer, through which shape wire and stretch resistant fibers are passed. The embolic implant has a first linear configuration for delivery through the implant tool and a second configuration after deployment from the implant tool.
