Provided is a method for enhanced expression of a recombinant protein of interest in a microbial host cell, comprising providing a microbial host cell wherein the function of H-NS (histone-like nucleoid structuring protein) or a homolog thereof is impaired transforming the host cell with an expression vector comprising a nucleotide sequence encoding the recombinant protein and culturing the transformed host cell in a culture media suitable for the expression of the recombinant protein.
