PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain the rate of storing medical image files in a storage medium even if a storable capacity for the medical image files increases in copying it.SOLUTION: A CPU 1038 updates DICOMDIR of a storage area 201 in a memory 1037 each time a medical image file is copied from a hard disk 1033 to a storage medium 104M.
