The absorbent product (1) has an outer contour (100) having a shape resembling an hourglass wherein the intermediate product portion (b2)comprises an area with a smaller width than any area in the head product portion (b1)and rear product portion (b3) respectively and wherein the core (3) extends in the longitudinal direction and transverse direction of the absorbent product (1) and has an outer contour (300) that is asymmetrical with the outer contour (100) of the absorbent product (1).
