The present invention provides a polymerizable liquid crystal compound that is highly soluble in various kinds of solvent and that has reverse-wavelength dispersibility or low-wavelength dispersibility. The present invention also provides a polymerizable liquid crystal compound that has reverse-wavelength dispersibility or low-wavelength dispersibility and that is highly adhesive to a substrate (or an oriented film) of an optically anisotropic body obtained by being added to a polymerizable composition and polymerizing the polymerizable composition with ultraviolet light. The present invention also provides a polymerizable composition containing such a polymerizable liquid crystal compound that has reverse-wavelength dispersibility or low-wavelength dispersibility, a polymer obtained by polymerizing such a polymerizable composition, and an optically anisotropic body in which such a polymer is used.
