PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ion generator which is interlocked with the operation of a fan in an air handling unit or the like, mounted on a wall or the like, and can diffuse ions efficiently into a living space by utilizing winds generated by the fan without modifying the fan.SOLUTION: An ion generator comprises: an air inlet 4 air outlets 51, 52 an ion generator 2 emitting ions into the air, which flows in from the air inlet 4 and flows out from the air outlets 51, 52 a vibration sensor 10 which detects vibration and control means 13 for controlling operation of the ion generator 2 based on the detection information of the vibration sensor 10. The vibration sensor 10 is fixed to an air handling unit by means of a magnet 11, and connected with the control means 13 by means of a wiring part 12.
