The present invention provides a use of red yeast rice in manufacturing a composition for improving a repair function for vascular injury after angioplasty. In particular, the red yeast rice is made by fermenting the Oryza sativa L. with monascus. The monascus has been deposited in the Food Industry Research and Development Institute (FIRDI) in accordance with relevant regulations, under the deposit number is BCRC 930147. The present invention verifies that after endothecium of a blood vessel is damaged by balloon angioplasty, a thickness of vascular Neointimal can be changed by ingesting red yeast rice powders with different concentrations, thus helping heal injuries caused by the balloon angioplasty during the treatment of coronary heart disease or thrombotic diseases can be repaired.本發明係提供一種紅麴於製造用於改善血管擴張術後血管損傷修護作用的組成物之用途,特定而言,所述的紅麴米係由紅麴菌利用在來米(Oryza sativa L.)發酵而成,紅麴菌目前依相關規定已係寄存於食品工業發展研究所,其寄存編號為BCRC 930147。本發明證實血管經由氣球擴張術破壞內皮厚,可藉由攝食予不同濃度的紅麴米粉末,可改變血管新生內膜之厚度,而可供應用於改善於冠狀動脈疾病或血栓性疾病的治療中因使用氣球擴張術所造成的損傷。
