The calibration light source (91) causes light to be incident on the emission end of an image guide (31). The light incident on the image guide (31) is emitted as spot light (Lsp) from a tip surface (20a). The PC (93) turns on the calibration light source (91), drives a piezoelectric element (35) to shift the incident end of the image guide (31), and causes the calibration CCD (98) to capture an image of the spot light (Lsp). The PC (93) detects the amount of displacement of the spot light (Lsp) from the image obtained by the calibration CCD (98). The PC (93) determines, according to the result of a comparison between the detected amount of displacement and a defined amount, the drive condition of the piezoelectric element (35) such that the amount of shift of the incident end of the image guide (31) is the defined amount.
