PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) apparatus which can detect movement of a site such as the diaphragm with high accuracy.SOLUTION: An MRI apparatus 100 comprises a setting part 26a and a control part 10. The setting part 26a sets a first application region to which an excitation pulse for detecting a respiratory time phase is applied and a second application region to which refocusing pulse is applied, in such a way that a volume of a region to which both of the excitation pulse and the refocusing pulse are applied becomes a prescribed volume value.
