A system for engaging a target with a prosthetic device 101 adjustable using an external tool 20 having first, second, and third compression bars 33. The prosthetic device comprising: a first paddle 5 having a first inner surface 7, a first outer surface 10, a first paddle end, and a second paddle end, wherein the first paddle end and the second paddle end lie on opposite ends of the first paddle; a second paddle 5 having a second inner surface 7, a second outer surface 10, a third paddle end, and a fourth paddle end, wherein the third paddle end and the fourth paddle end lie on opposite ends of the second paddle; and a third paddle 5 having a third inner surface 7, a third outer surface 10, a fifth paddle end, and a sixth paddle end, wherein the fifth paddle end and the sixth paddle end lie on opposite ends of the second paddle. The prosthetic device further comprises: an adapter 1; a first paddle connector 6 that couples the first paddle end to the adapter; a second paddle connector 6 that couples the third paddle end to the adapter; and a third paddle connector 6 that couples the fifth paddle end to the adapter. The first, second, and third outer surfaces removably couple with the first, second, and third compression bars, respectively. The first, second, and third paddles have a length that is oriented along a length of the target. The first, second, and third paddles, along their entire length, have a narrower width than a width of the target such that, upon adjustment by the external tool, the first, second, and third paddles compress a first, second, and third narrow target area, respectively, along the length of the target so as to capture lost motion between the target and the prosthetic device.
