The present invention relates to a self-contained motor-powered disposable loading unit (16) for use with a robotic system configured to generate control systems for it. The disposable charging unit may contain a battery (526) which is retained in a disconnected position when the disposable charging unit is not in use and is moved to a connected position when the disposable charging unit is coupled to the robotic system to allow motor (562) be selectively fed therethrough.
