The method includes: detecting a value of a distance between the wearable device and a user detecting a body characteristic value of the user and determining that the wearable device is worn on the user, if the value of the distance between the wearable device and the user is less than or equal to a preset distance threshold and the body characteristic value of the user does not exceed a preset threshold of the body characteristic value of the user. According to the detection method for a wearable device and the wearable device in the embodiments of the present invention, whether a user wears a wearable device can be determined quickly and accurately by detecting a value of a distance between the wearable device and the user and a body characteristic value of the user, and a detection success rate is high.
