PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a 5&alpha-reductase inhibitor, and a beverage, foodstuff and medicine imparted with a 5&alpha-reductase inhibitory function.
SOLUTION: This 5&alpha-reductase inhibitor is characterized by containing the seed of an oriental pumpkin (Cucurbita moschata) and/or a western pumpkin (Cucurbita maxima) as an active ingredient, and the beverage, foodstuff and medicine imparted with the 5&alpha-reductase inhibitory function are also provided. The seeds of the oriental pumpkin and western pumpkin have an effect of inhibiting the 5&alpha-reductase in a living body.
