This application relates to electric toothbrushes and in particular to a brush section (200) for an electric toothbrush (10). The brush section may include static contact elements (224) and movable contact elements (228) to perform a cleaning operation. A head portion (220) of the brush section is resistant to fractures or other material damage which might result from impacts, such as for example caused by dropping the toothbrush. It is structured to transmit forces from the impact away from an interior region of the head portion, to pass through the side portions of the head portion.
