A device 1 is provided for controlling humidity in a plant pot 2. The device comprises the plant pot, a reservoir, a wick passage, a wick and a drain. The plant pot 2 is arranged for holding soil 3, the plant pot 2 comprising an open side 2t for adding the soil, and further comprising a bottom side opposite the open side. The reservoir 4 is arranged for holding water 5. The wick passage 2d is arranged through a wall of the plant pot, which wick passage leads to a wick passage opening 2d' in the plant pot. The wick 6 extends via the wick passage 2d between the reservoir 4 and the plant pot 2 and enters the plant pot at the wick opening 2d'. The drain 7 comprises a drain opening 7a formed in a bottom part 2o' at the bottom side 2o of the plant pot 2. The drain opening 7a flows into a guide 7b arranged for, in use, discharging excess water that flows through the drain opening 7a of the drain via the guide 7b to outside X the assembly. Because of the drain it is at least substantially avoided that the excess water enters into the water reservoir.
