The present invention relates generally to a wearable fishing rod holder for anglers, worn by a person while fishing, it secures a fishing rod to an angler. The rod holder is attached to an item of clothing or gear and is generally worn on an anglers chest. It releasably holds a fishing rod in a generally vertical position and is comprised of a rod support member and attachment member for securing the holder to the user. The rod support apparatus is mostly comprised of a deformable resilient and cushioned material that is formed so that it compresses upon the rod portion of a fishing rod to hold it securely.
