A packaged tampon comprising a substantially cylindrical shell of flexible sheet material into which the tampon is placed, wherein: a. the substantially cylindrical shell is closed at both ends and has a longitudinal seam area in which overlapping portions of the flexible sheet material are attached to each other to form a tubular structure； b. the longitudinal region of the seam comprises a substantially longitudinal zone of attachment with a first edge and a second edge, jointly defining the boundaries of the seam region； wherein: c. line of attenuation: i. has a first end located within the seam area at the first edge of the substantially longitudinal attachment zone at a first distance from the first end of the tubular structure； ii. passes through a gap in the substantially longitudinal zone of attachment and to the second edge of the substantially longitudinal zone of attachment； iii. extends essentially along the circumference of the shell, passes through a gap in the essentially longitudinal zone of attachment and iv. ends at the second end located inside the seam area at the second edge of the substantially longitudinal attachment zone. 2.
