The invention relates to transgenic birds capable of producing chimeric immunoglobulins, with a combination of human and avian sequence, in their B cells. In some embodiments, the birds are chickens. When challenged with an antigen, the transgenic avians produce antigen-specific functional antibodies. The invention also relates to light chain immunoglobulin transgenes for making such transgenic avians, as well as methods and vectors for disrupting endogenous immunoglobulin loci in birds.Linvention concerne des oiseaux transgéniques capables de produire des immunoglobulines chimères, avec une combinaison de séquences humaine et aviaire, dans leurs cellules B.
