A washable diaper having anouter article with an inner liner systemdetachably coupled to the outer article. Theouter article has front and back ends, withopposing side edges connecting the ends, andinner and outer surfaces, with at least onefastening mechanism on the inner surfaceproximate to at least one of the ends. Theinner liner system has first and second endsand includes at least one washable article, sothat when assembled with the outer article,the first and second ends of the inner linersystem align with the front and back ends ofthe outer article to be detachably coupled.The inner liner system may also include aliner member and/or at least one absorbentpad, configured to be placed within thewashable article. A method of assembly ofthe washable diaper having an outer articleand inner lining system is also disclosed.
