PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve smooth releasing and winding of a fishing line.
SOLUTION: A fishing reel includes: a spool 5 freely rotatably supported between side plates of a reel body 1 a driving mechanism 10 installed in at least one side plate a fishing line guide body 22 provided reciprocatively in the right and left directions in operative connection with rotating operation of a handle shaft 7a of the driving mechanism 10 in front of the spool 5 to carry out parallel winding of the fishing line onto the spool 5 and a line guide 23 installed in the fishing line guide body 22. The line guide 23 is composed so as to have a fishing line guide surface formed into an oblong shape in the right and left directions for passing along an axial line of the spool 5 when viewed from the front of the fishing line guide body 22, and housing parts 4a and 4b installed for allowing housing of a right end 23b and a left end 23a of the line guide 23, respectively during reciprocation in right and left lateral sites of the line guide 23 in the reel body 1.
