The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating diabetes containing biglycan as an active component. Biglycan according to the present invention induces hypoglycemia through increased AMPK phosphorylation and glucose uptake, thereby being useful as a therapeutic agent for insulin resistant diabetes.본 발명은 비글리칸 (biglycan)을 유효성분으로 함유하는 당뇨병 예방 또는 치료용 약학 조성물에 관한 것이다. 본 발명에 따른 비글리칸은 AMPK 인산화 및 글루코스 흡수 증가를 통해 혈당강하를 유도하므로, 인슐린 저항성 당뇨병의 치료제로 유용하다.
