The present invention relates to a composition for promoting proliferation of adult stem cells, containing phytosphingosine 1-phosphate (P1P), O-cyclic P1P (cP1P), N-acetyl phytosphingosine-1-phosphate (NAPS-1-P), and a pharmaceutically acceptable sale thereof, in addition to a base medium. The present invention further relates to a composition for culturing adult stem cells containing the same or a composition for serum-free or low serum adult stem cell culture media.
