A high frequency ultrasound analog beamformer comprises a linear array ofsurface acoustic wave (SAW) devicesformed on a single crystal piezoelectric substrate, such as a PMN- PT singlecrystal piezoelectric substrate. Each SAW devicecomprises ultrasound input and output electrode structures separated by avariable delay structure. The beamformer furthercom-prises a delay controller operably connected to each variable delaystructure to control the delay of each SAW device todynami-cally focus signals received at each input electrode.
