A composition represented by formula (I): R&mdash；O-(G)p-H (I) in which R represents a radical including 6 to 8 carbon atoms, G represents the residue of a reducing sugar and p represents a decimal number greater than or equal to 1.05 and less than or equal to 5, and the composition is a mixture of compounds represented by formulae (I1), (I2), (I3), (I4) and (I5): R&mdash；O-(G)1-H(I1) R&mdash；O-(G)2-H(I2) R&mdash；O-(G)3-H(I3) R&mdash；O-(G)4-H(I4) R&mdash；O-(G)5-H(I5), in respective molar proportions a1, a2, a3, a4 and a5, such that: a1+a2+a3+a4+a5=1. The use of the composition as a solubilising agent in an aqueous composition of at least one compound (A) chosen from &alpha；-tocopherol, &bgr；-tocopherol, &gamma；-tocopherol, &delta；-tocopherol, &alpha；-tocopherol acetate, &bgr；-tocopherol acetate, &gamma；-tocopherol acetate, &delta；-tocopherol acetate, &alpha；-tocotrienol, &bgr；-tocotrienol, &gamma；-tocotrienol and &delta；-tocotrienol. Also, a composition (C2) and its use in methods for preventing the unattractive effects of ageing, for cleaning the skin and hair, and for therapeutic treatment.
