An apparatus for mixing bone cement can include a receiving chamber, a mixing chamber, a cannula, a base, and a piston disposed in the mixing chamber. The receiving chamber defines a conduit. The mixing chamber is in fluid communication with the receiving chamber. The mixing chamber is configured to contain a first component of bone cement. A cannula is disposed in the receiving chamber and is in fluid communication with the conduit. The base includes a bladder arranged to be punctured by a cannula. The bladder is configured to receive a second component of bone cement. Upon puncturing the bladder with the cannula, the second component of bone cement flows through the conduit and cannula and into the mixing chamber.
